A horse of course

We recently repaired a fully size horse made out of solid Mahogany wood.  The horse, which lives in a customers house, tried to go for a swim when the house flooded.  Being held together by glue and all didn't work out so good.  The horse is constructed of several blocks of wood that are carved after they are all glued together in the rough form.  During the flood, water was able to get between the blocks of wood and cause them to separate.  When we picked up the horse, the head and legs were loose from the body.  Below are some of our work in process picture.

Dressers for Christmas

We recently finish a dresser just in time for Christmas.  It was in bad shape and had several layers of paints on it.  Not to mention the drawers didn't work very well.  Turns out under all of that old paint was beautiful wood.

1950's Style balsa wood surfboard

Here at the shop we get ourselves into all sorts of the different projects. Our main focus  is repairing and restoring furniture but sometimes we branch out.  Whether it be making furniture, restoring old cars, or shaping surfboards it all helps us keep our craftsman skills sharp.  Here is a solid Balsa wood surfboard with a Hawaiian Koa wood fin/skeg.  It weighs about 50lbs. and is surfed frequently.  If you are interested in a balsa board let us know.

Here is an antique radio we just finished.  The top was in pretty bad shape, so we had to refinish the top and restored the base.  The grain really shines now the the finish is cleaned up.

Tree Slab Tables

A client brought in a couple of Tree Slab Tables.  The wood has a really
nice grain pattern, so at first I wan't too sure about the Silver/Grey.
I think they turned out pretty cool though.  The have a rustic
modern feel to them.

Clamps!

Sergio working on setting a new record for most clamps used on a single chair.
The entire chair was loose.  It was a difficult repair.  We have to
be very careful to get the chair tight but not break the curved arms.
